What is the Mixercast Wizard? Why wouldn’t I go straight to that cool Designer?
Mixercast Wizard provides an easy to use step by step method for creating simple mixercasts. It is designed to help users, new and experience, create powerful mixercast quickly. After you complete a pass with the step by step Wizard, you can further improve your mixercast using the Designer.
What is the Mixercast Designer? What’s so cool about it?
Mixercast Designer is a unique web-based tool that combines the power of Flash media programming, collaborative photo and video editing and webcam capture in one unified platform. Think of it as a free-form tool that can allow you to create anything from an advertisement, to a photo slideshow, to a collage, to a radio show, or a video channel. Its ease of use makes it possible for a novice to create superb rich media expressions within minutes. For expert users it provides a plethora of advanced tools to tweak their Mixercasts to perfection. Only your imagination limits what you can create.
What are Templates?
Templates are quick launch tools to help you create outstanding Mixercasts. Designed by our professional artists, they exhibit the power of Mixercast, while also making it quick and easy to complete by just dragging and dropping your media in.
Whether you are using the Wizard or the Designer, Templates will allow you to easily create mixercasts for your friends and family.
How can I add media? What types of media does the Mixercast accept?
You can add media from your local system by selecting on the Upload Files in either the Mixercast Wizard of the Mixercast Designer. A dialog box will allow you to select multiple media files after which they will be uploaded to your account. We currently allow the following:
Images: jpeg, gif, bmp, png, tif
Video: mov, flv, avi, mpeg1/4 with most common codecs
Audio: mp3
Can I use media from my other Web 2.0 accounts?
Yes. Mixercast uses smart linking mechanisms to link to media located in your accounts at other Web 2.0 sites. The supported sites are:
1. Flickr
Stay tuned, more are on their way.
Do you copy media from external sites?
No. All your media in external Web 2.0 accounts is simply available as a link. This means that you do not use up your Mixercast quota uploading media that you already have at other sites. The convenience of linking allows you to reuse your media from across the web.
Do you provide media that I can use?
Yes. We provide you legal, licensed media that you can access via "The Studio" section of either the Wizard or the Designer. We currently provide clip art as well as professional Sound Clips and Photographs from leading bands and brands. More to come!
How long does my media remain in my Mixercast account?
Your media remains as long as you want it to be, or until you run out of quota. We do not delete media from the site unless you explicitly remove them yourself.
How do I delete media?
Go to My Mixercasts > My Media Library page, select checkbox on any of your media and then select the Remove Files link.
How do I edit a Mixercast already created?
You can only edit your own Mixercasts. To do this, go to the My Mixercasts section and either click on "Edit". This will take you the Mixercast Designer where you can edit your creations.
Can other users also view my media that I upload?
No. The only time users get a chance to play around with your media is when they decide to “Remix” your Mixercast that you’ve made remixable. This gives you the content creator control of the usage of your media.
What happens when I "Remix" a Mixercast?
"Remix" allows you to build upon another user's Mixercast, creating a duplicate Mixercast for you to work on, while the original Mixercast remains untouched. This is an extremely powerful feature allowing the community to collaborate. However, the original author continues to maintain control over the content used in the remixed mixercast, and if they remove it from the site, it will disappear from your remix.
Publishing your Mixercasts
What happens when I say yes to "Publish in Gallery"?
The Mixercast will be available in the gallery for everyone to see. It will also show up if in Search or if a Tag that it has is selected.
How do I drop my Mixercast in other sites?
You can simply select the style of your Mixercast embed and the site you want to drop in, and we will provide you a small snippet of HTML code. All you have to do is to cut and paste that HTML code into wherever you want to display your Mixercast.
You can set the styling by choosing the “skin” of your Mixercast container.
Can I restrict only some users to view some Mixercasts? If so – how?
Mixercast site enables private communities to develop around the content. If you select "Private", we won't list your Mixercast anywhere on our site, neither will it be searchable.
If you make a Mixercast private, you will have to explicitly invite your friends to view the Mixercast using the "Tell a Friend" utility.
Miscellaneous
Is my privacy protected?
We never compromise user privacy. Your actual email would never be displayed to anyone anywhere in the site. We also do not share your email with any third party.
In addition, no one can use your media without you giving them express permission to remix.
We also allow you to withdraw (ie remove) your Mixercast or media at any point in time and have that be unavailable to all users in the community.
